Every home should be warm enough to provide a healthy living environment. Yet it is an unacceptable reality that millions of households in the UK live homes that they are unable to keep warm and power at a reasonable cost. Sadly thousands still sadly die every winter due to living in a cold home. Beyond premature mortality and alongside a range of negative outcomes for physical health, a cold home can be a lonely and depressing place to live with proven links to exacerbating mental health conditions. For young children, a cold home can also mean poor school attainment and social exclusion which has negative implications for their future life chances.
